IN THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST  we  have had three decisions from Reporters at the Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals that have refused wind farms and all are relevant to the Society's stance in Berwickshire.

At the AGM on Tuesday 6th November it was announced that Brigid, Lady McEwen was to be the new president of the Society.

Joint Berwickshire Civic Society and Berwickshire Naturalists Club visit Wednesday 20th June 2012

Ian Maitland Hume, President of both Berwickshire Civic Society and the Berwickshire Naturalists this year, led a joint meeting of over forty members to Polwarth and Marchmont in June.

Thirlestane Castle was the venue for the launch of an exciting new scheme piloted by the Berwickshire Civic Society.

Since Summer 2011 members of the Civic Society have gained free entrance to those historic buildings participating in this new scheme, when accompanied by another guest who pays the entrance fee.
